What is Plasma Fibroblast Skin Tightening?
Plasma Fibroblast Skin Tightening is a revolutionary non-surgical, non-invasive treatment where no scalpels or any other surgical instruments are used to tighten excess tissue that causes wrinkles and sagging. This treatment not only significantly reduces fine lines and wrinkles, but also helps eliminate skin tags, sun damage, stretch marks, and scars.
During the procedure, a tiny plasma flash (also known as an electrical arc) is discharged from the tip of our FDA-registered Plamere Premier Pen. The tip of the pen is held above the skin and the plasma arc connects the tip of the device to the surface of the skin. A series of tiny dots are strategically placed in the targeted area and the skin around the dot tightens and shrinks instantly, pulling the cells closer together. This controlled micro-trauma to the skin stimulates the fibroblasts in the dermis layer of the skin that produces collagen cells that we lose as we age, which help the skin look younger and rejuvenated. The Plamere Plasma Pen produces amazing results instantly and continues to improve over the following 8-12 weeks.
Plasma Fibroblast therapy is an elective, aesthetic, beauty procedure that we offer as an alternative to laser, injections, botox, and surgical therapies to tighten, rejuvenate, and improve the skin’s appearance.
What are Fibroblasts?
Plasma Fibroblast therapy targets fibroblast cells. Fibroblasts are the collagen-producing and protein-producing cells in the dermis layer of the skin which is just below your outermost skin layer. Fibroblasts play an important role in maintaining skin firmness and tightness, as well as, helping skin wounds heal.
What is the Plasma Pen that you use?
Plasma Fibroblast therapy uses a handheld pen-like device that discharges an arc produced by plasma waves. Your procedure will be performed using an FDA registered Plamere Premium Plasma Pen. The tip of the pen never touches the skin but instead releases a targeted arc just above the skin’s surface.
A closer look reveals the tightening effects of the skin between the pattern of dots.
The arc creates a tiny, micro-injury in the skin’s surface layer due to a reaction called sublimation. The ”needle-like” tip is a sterile, disposable, one-time-use product. The result of Plasma Fibroblast therapy is regeneration and tightening of the skin in the treated area.
According to a 2019 article published in the PFMA (Plastic Surgery Maxillofacial Surgery Aesthetic Medicine) Journal, the thermal disruption, or heat micro-damage from Plasma Fibroblast Therapy:

What are the benefits of Plasma Fibroblast?
One of the major advantages of Plasma Fibroblast Treatment is that it offers a much less invasive and less expensive alternative to surgery. The results are instant and visible during the treatment itself, with further improvement seen during the following 12 weeks which will last years.
In contrast to conventional surgery:
- There is no general anesthetic required,
- The skin is not cut
- No stitches are needed
- No scarring
- No bruising
- No bleeding
- Virtually painless with topical anesthetic
The skin cannot be over-lifted. The technology used means that once the skin has reached its proper tightening point, it just turns off. This assures that only the natural excess skin is reduced without thinning the skin or damaging the deeper layers.
- Safe. No risk of infection if aftercare is followed precisely.
- Minimum downtime
- Fast recovery
- Long-lasting results

How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Most clients need only one treatment and will see results instantly and continue to see improvements over the course of the following 8 weeks. Occasionally, based on the area being treated, skin laxity, the desired degree of correction, and the individual’s response to the treatment, if desired, further treatments can be easily done at 6 to 8 weeks after the initial procedure.
Is the procedure painful?
You can experience some mild discomfort, which really depends on your pain threshold. For a comfortable experience, we recommend attending your appointment on time to allow the topical numbing cream to have the required time to absorb and take effect in the areas you will be having treated. The numbing cream is applied for 45 minutes for the best results.
Will there be downtime?
Downtime depends on your working situation and lifestyle. You may resume your day-to-day activities immediately after your treatment, but this does not mean there is no downtime. The plasma arc causes tiny ”crusts” to form on the skin giving the distinctive dotting effect so you may not look your best during the healing process (up to 7 days).
You can also experience significant swelling in the area treated, particularly in the eye area. The swelling will dimmish over a 2-5 day period.
Once the tiny crusts have fallen off (approximately 7 days), your skin may be pinkish in color. You may begin to apply your normal foundation, make-up and sunblock at this time.
You will be given specific aftercare instructions and products. Follow these exactly as written to ensure the best results.
ABSOLUTELY NO MAKE-UP

UNTIL THE CRUSTS HAVE ALL FALLEN OFF.
When will I see visible results?
The positive effect of the Plasma Fibroblast treatment is instant and visible during the treatment itself, but will be even more noticeable at 4 weeks with continuing improvement up to 12 weeks.
Follow-up treatments may be performed after 6 to 8 weeks depending on your skin’s healing. Follow up treatments are often offered at a discount.
How long will the result last?
As Fibroblast Plasma Skin Tightening is more than a simple tightening treatment, tiny spots of skin are carbonized creating crusts that fall off. The removal of these small dots of skin causes effects that should last as long as more invasive treatments. Like all surgical and cosmetic procedures, the effects of plasma treatment are not entirely permanent and won’t stop the aging process. However, the positive results should last you 3-4 years, depending on the area treated.
The positive effects of treatment will be noticeable immediately after the first treatment, but the results will be seen after 8 weeks. For some, additional treatment may be required after 8 weeks for maximum results.
Additionally, there are lifestyle factors that can hinder the lasting results, such as smoking, alcohol consumption, and prolonged sun exposure.
REGULAR DAILY SKINCARE WILL ADD TO LONGER LASTING RESULTS.
Are there any risks or side effects?
Plasma Skin Tightening has been shown to be a safe procedure in thousands of patients due to its non-invasive nature. However, as with most cosmetic procedures, patients are likely to experience some minor side effects in the first 5 to 10 days after treatment.
The entire treatment area will have small but visible brown dotted marks, which will begin to shed naturally over the course of 5-10 days. Some patients will also experience 3 to 5 days of swelling, especially with eyelid treatments. To avoid any more serious side effects such as hyperpigmentation, follow the aftercare instruction given to you prior to your treatment.
Overall, the treatment is low in complications, and virtually painless thanks to the pre-treatment numbing cream.
Is Plasma Fibroblast Skin Tightening for everyone?
Both women and men can benefit from Plasma Fibroblast Skin Tightening. However, there are certain individuals who may have contraindications. Contraindications are certain conditions or situations that may make this treatment inadvisable.
A list of contraindications is below:
- Pregnant or nursing

Do I need a consultation?
Yes. Strictly no appointments for Plasma Fibroblast treatments will be allocated unless a thorough consultation appointment has been attended a minimum of 2 days prior to treatment. The consultation will take approximately 30 minutes. There is no charge.
At this stage, we will assess your suitability for treatment, discuss your skin concerns, needs and expectations, and if required a patch test will be carried out.
Pictures will be taken of all areas to be treated. These images will not be shared or used without your consent. You will be given a detailed, step by step description of the treatment.
How much does a treatment cost?
During your consultation, we'll evaluate your needs and determine what treatment is necessary. Treatments start at $300, but that can vary based on the area and intensity required. Plus, you can receive one area free — a minimum $350 value! Inquire how through our referral program.
The most important preparation you may want to consider is your time during the first week following your treatment. Give careful thought before scheduling your appointment. Ensure you have no important meetings to attend, special occasions, etc. You may wish to arrange your appointment during a vacation or break, especially if your job requires you to look presentable eg: teachers/public facing roles. This is important as it is likely that you will prefer to stay at home until all of the tiny crusts and swelling has subsided and you look more like yourself. However, this may not be an issue to you if the visual effects of the treatment are of no concern.
It is recommended that sun protection of SPF 30-50 be used daily for at least two weeks prior to the Fibroblast treatments. Skincare products with ingredients such as retinols, alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), tretinoin, or any type of Vitamin A derivatives should be avoided. Stay out of the sun, tanning salons, and refrain from using any self-tanning products for three weeks.
Please attend your appointment with clean skin with no moisturizer, makeup/tanning products on the treatment area.
You may wish to wash your hair on the morning of your treatment as the treatment area cannot get wet for the full week following the procedure. If you are having an upper and lower eye-lift treatment on the same day, it is advisable to make arrangements for a ride. Do not drive yourself.
Day of Treatment
Please attend your appointment with clean skin with no moisturizer, makeup/tanning products on the treatment area. If your eyes are being treated and you have lash extensions, please remove them before your appointment. Lash extensions should not be re-applied for 21 days. There should be no mascara on your natural lashes.
You may take an antihistamine 30 minutes prior to your appointment to help with swelling if you are prone to swelling easily. You may continue to take antihistamines for 2-3 days following the appointment. A numbing agent is applied and left to take effect for up to 30 minutes. When the treatment area is sufficiently numb, the session begins with multiple connections of the fibroblast tip, spaced closely together. You may feel some heat in the treatment area, which may be uncomfortable and slightly irritating. Treatment time is usually between 10-40 minutes, depending on the size of the area. Immediately after treatment, the area may be red and mildly swollen with small carbon crusts (spots). Clients describe this experience as a sensation similar to a sunburn which will likely last a few hours. Swelling may intensify over the following few hours and more so when eyes are treated and may last 2-3 days. The carbon crusts will lift within 5 -12 days depending on the individual and area treated. Results gradually improve over the course of the following eight weeks.
Following the treatment, you will be provided with thorough aftercare instructions to follow to ensure you receive the best results. We will cover these aftercare instructions below and along with pre-care instructions. In the week following the treatment, or until the treatment area has fully healed, an exfoliating wash or cleanser should not be used. Instead, opt for a pH balanced soap (Dove), and avoid rubbing the area.
What to expect during the procedure
A topical numbing cream is applied and left to take effect for up to 50 minutes. When the treatment area is sufficiently numb, the session begins. You may feel some heat or slight discomfort in the treatment area depending on the sensitivity of the area being treated.
Immediately after treatment, the area may be red and mildly swollen. Clients describe this experience as a sensation similar to a sun burn which will likely last a few hours. Swelling may intensify over the following few hours and more so when eyes are treated and may last 2-3 days.
The carbon crusts will lift within 5 -12 days depending on the individual and area treated. Results gradually improve over the course of the following eight weeks.
Is there any aftercare required?
YES. During your first appointment, you will be given aftercare instructions. Following these instructions is critical for the best results.
Complications or negative effects will not be caused by the device but more likely as a result of a failure in complying with aftercare instruction. Aftercare with unsuitable products is often the chief culprit where a negative aspect of any kind occurs. You will be provided with Prive aftercare products specially formulated for your Fibroblast Skin Tightening treatment and a detailed aftercare plan.
Westlake Skin Tightening will contact you every few days after your treatment. Feel free to call if you have any questions.
